ESAC’s Outreach Program takes art to underserved populations in our community that might not otherwise have exposure to the arts. The $10,000 donation from Wind Creek Hospitality will directly support arts education programming for children and adults suffering from chronic illnesses, physical or mental disabilities, and hearing or vision impairment. Veterans and senior citizens, the Rotary Youth Program and other community organizations also benefit from the outreach program’s services.

Bryant Whelan, Executive Director of the Art Center, said, “The twenty-year- strong outreach program, led by Nancy Raia, fulfills a huge part of our mission. But each year the need for our outreach far outweighs the resources available to serve those who stand to benefit most from the healing power of art. The grant from Wind Creek Hospitality will be a huge boost to helping the program continue to thrive.”

Appropriately titled “Art Without Limits,” the program is indeed a labor of love for outreach program director, Nancy Raia, who literally takes art on the road. “The children are so creative and appreciative of all of our projects,” said Raia. “Whether I am working with youth to learn about blue herons and their habitats through art projects, teaching teens about inventors as artists, or teaching about biodiversity through art, the creative process is the tie that binds it all together,” said Raia. “We are just delighted to be partnering with Wind Creek with this program,” she said.

Whelan said that Wind Creek executives told them that the outreach program marries well with their mission to serve children through education. “This program allows us to support the community beyond the walls of our physical building with education and enrichment activities for those who in some cases have never been to the Art Center,” said Whelan. “The grant from Wind Creek is a big boost for our community.”
